NORTH EAST VIDEO CONTENT CREATION AND STORY LED DOCUMENTARIES

Documentary Films for Every Community

What's Your Story?

Whether your community is place based, people based or company- culture based....whether it's for internal comms or raising public awareness, there's nothing better to drive engagement, galvanise teams, support funding bids, or celebrate and document people's achievements .... than a sharing a documentary-style short film on your website and /or across social media.

Our Northern Storyboard videos tell emotional stories of local heroes for awards nights; and inspirational community projects that make a difference. We document art, culture and regeneration, to encourage civic pride. We interview specialists to share advice about health topics. We help clients improve the culture at work by producing dynamic recruitment and sensitive training videos covering diversity, inclusion and disability topics.

CASE STUDY

Here's a little video that we put together to help promote a new market for independent traders - which is currently being curated in the huge space that Wilco used to occupy in North Shields.

We're working on a series of story-led videos with the owners of The Beacon Centre in collaboration with hyper local media company ilovenorthshields to communicate redevelopment plans to the community, generate confidence and pride in the town and drive interest for market pitches. We make professional, interview-and-story-led. visually interesting videos and ILNS has the reach. Its a win-win situation - the perfect partnership!

Taj Gill, the owner of the shopping centre is a breath of fresh air when it comes to redefining the town centre offering, now that online shopping and out of town shopping centres have taken their toll on the high street. All kind of things are planned for the new units, including experience based activities such as hobby games venues, a gym, street food and relaxation areas, and padel courts.

We are really looking forward to what comes next at The Beacon Centre and in North Shields. As Peter (Prefab 77) explains, street art makes a huge difference to the attraction of and the confidence in a town. He was heavily involved in last years Elevation project, which saw huge scale murals go up across the town. We can't wait to see Prefab's signage for the Common Ground market, which is planned for a grand opening in November. Keep a watch on our socials for more video news about the developments!

COMMUNITY EVENT COVERAGE AND HERITAGE DOCUMENTARY VIDEOS

We've been producing the Knaresborough Bed Race highlights video for around 10 years. On the day, we take a team of 4 or 5, positioned at various points throughout the course, and put together a story-led documentary video of the event that is watched worldwide by many thousands!

We produced a series of videos to document the North Shields 800 celebrations in 2025. This included interviews with all the artists who produced the large scale murals, documentaries of those involved in the music scene, and also interviews with organisations involved in sharing the heritage of the town. Our final project was to produce a highlights video of the event - commissioned by North Tyneside Council, and we later edited together a short reel to support the Council's bid for Town of Culture.

Delivering Pride in Place through localised video stories

Our 12 Days of Christmas video 'Christmas, Wrapped' 2025, was shot and edited portrait, purely for a social media campaign to highlight the town's retail, cultural and hospitality offering.

After The Northern Storyboard came up with the concept for, and delivered the project, Laura Picton, Team Leader for Tourism and Events at North Tyneside Council, said, "Everything has been so well received – it’s a real talking point. And great to know it’s benefitting the businesses - which is exactly what we set out to achieve."

The campaign was delivered in its entirety across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Linked In and website, by our local media partner,

I Love North Shields. The concept was that the 12 parts were designed, shot and edited to be delivered piece by piece (with fresh footage each day) over 12 days. The result? Thousands of people engaged - sharing and commenting every day. People far and wide being highlighted to new and existing businesses in town. Real community engagement.

The additional value? As we went along, we uncovered several stand alone stories that we thought would be interesting to share. With this in mind, we went the extra mile and produced a short series of off-shoot short-form videos. These also reached thousands of accounts and were shared in droves.  The SeaView Fisheries bite-sized video reached a whopping 103,000 views within a couple of weeks.
